On the Same Page!

"One the Same Page" Submission Guidelines

"On the Same Page" the official newsletter of the Chicago American Indian Education Program (Title VII) does accept submissions from educational organizations as well as any indiviual interested in serving Chicago Public School's Native American Student population. If you wish to submit an article please note the following guidelines:

Articles
+Articles MUST be of interest to our constituents: CPS parents and teachers. Note that students primary through high school might also see your articles. Please consider that our primary focus for the newsletter is to inform parents and teachers of the program and events of the Chicago American Indian Education Program (Title VII) and we invite local and national organizations to submit information that would be beneficial to our students as well as providing educational opportunities beyond the classroom and post-high school. These can include program information, education policy review, arts and culture, education or community news or commentary, reviews of Native-themed books, movies, music or art.

ALSO NOTE: Please contact the Title VII office for new newsletter guidelines.

+Submissions are open to any interested parent, teacher, student, or organization. We encourage student writing as much as possible.

+Articles can be anywhere from 150 words (quarter page) to 650 words (full page). Less words if you want and provide a photo or image. Take space into consideration please and note the “On the Same Page” Staff reserves the right to edit articles for space, however we will never edit content.

+You can submit article via email to emwhitemanii@cps.k12.il.us with “Newsletter submission MONTH” in subject line, in either .doc or .docx files. PLEASE: do not insert images into document, attach them as separate files.

Images
+Images should at lease be 300dpi for re-sizing purposes, jpeg preferred. (But can work with most anything.)

+If submitting photos please note name of photographer or image will be labeled “Courtesy YOUR ORGANIZATION”.

+DO NOT insert images into Word files! This embed resamples the image to a low-quality image. Please send as separate attachments.

+MOST IMPORTANT: Unless Title VII staff has been invited to take photos, you must have clearance and releases for any photo you submit. Meaning, you have the permission of the photographer (Staff photographers should be listed) and permission of anyone in the photo to be printed. This protects your organization from liabilities associated with using unauthorized images.

Please keep these guidelines in mind when considering submission to our newsletter. Our primary focus again, is to inform CPS parents and teacher on our programming and events, as well as, any information that can positively impact the educational experience of their students. We look forward to hearing from you.
