Calendar Clarification
If your organization has an event or programs that you wish us to add to our newsletter calendar, please send event/program details and if possible a flier or image to our office at least TWO (2) MONTHS in advance of the event/program.
We can add event to our website calendar pretty quickly as we update it as often as possible. Please denote if you wish to be added to our website or to the newsletter.

The Summer Program will run June 21st through July 2nd and is open to Title VII program participants K through 12th Grade, with the K-8th programs running daily from 9A.M. to 3P.M. Academic enhancement activities are emphasized this year. This year’s offerings include:
Astronomy and Meteorology: Grades K through 2nd.
During week one, students will study the stars, their movements and patterns with a planned field trip to the Adler Planetarium.
In week two they will learn the many aspects of weather from rain to snow to atmospheric pressure and how clouds are formed with a planned field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the new weather exhibit.
Earth and Our Place in It: Grades 3rd through 5th.
Students will learn nature’s life cycles, the food chain and eco system and have the opportunity to go on field trips to help clean Montrose Beach and rock climbing.
Real Indian Kids Read: Grades 6th through 8th.
A guided reading program with an emphasis on writing, discussion and research associated with book themes, motifs and imagery in connection with cultural identity.
In addition, students will be taught computer literacy as well as using graphics programs to create digital works of art connected to their reading.
T7 High School Summer Program:Grades 9th through 10th
A program for high school students is currently being developed in partnership with HEART (Humane Education Advocates Reaching Teachers). High School students will meet and plan a One Year Anniversary Celebration of the Foster Avenue Bricolage Mural. More details to follow.

Applications are now being accepted for the Medicine Shield College, Bachelor of Arts degree program with Eastern Illinois University for fall 2010.
